The official coin-op sequel to Sega's classic high-fantasy beat 'em up really is a continuation of the original game. It boasts superior graphics, audio, as well as a choice of 4 different playable characters. The magic system has been reworked so that casting a spell uses a set number of potions, rather than all of them at once; stockpiling potions affords players multiple spell-casts when the going gets really tough.

There's also a limited branching path system, allowing different routes through levels 2 and 5. I wouldn't say there's any real advantage in choosing a specific path (unlike Capcom's D&D arcade games), but it's a cool feature to include.

Ultimately, if you were a fan of the original Golden Axe, The Revenge of Death Adder is likely to be right up your alley.
